About DomainRiff
DomainRiff gives a domain you own three possible futures. Type the name, and the Phoenix agent writes three distinct ideas for what it could become, each with a sales pitch. You pick the one you like, prove you own the domain, and the riff becomes a shareable page: the pitch, a copy-paste build prompt for your AI coding agent, and logo directions for image AI tools.
Domains are screened before any ideas are written, so no AI time is spent on gambling, crypto or scam names. Unverified riffs expire after 72 hours; verified riff pages stay live.
The idea
Credit to @headzoo on Twitch for giving me the idea. Here is the post that started it. Thanks, headzoo.
How it works
- Riff. Sign in with GitHub or Google and type a domain you own.
- Pick. Phoenix writes three ideas. The choice is final.
- Prove. Show you control the domain with a DNS record or a file on the site.
- Share. The riff goes live at /riff/yourdomain and can be shared anywhere.
Vibe coded with
DomainRiff was built fast: AI agents did most of the typing, a human made the calls.
The stack
- PHP 8.5, hand-rolled and framework-free (no composer dependencies)
- MariaDB for storage
- nginx, self-hosted behind a Cloudflare tunnel (HTTPS at the edge)
- DeepSeek API runs the Phoenix idea agent
- GitHub and Google for sign-in
The pipeline
- Pair-built with AI agents: Hermes (by Nous Research) wrote and shipped most of the code; Kimi reviewed and hardened it
- Git and GitHub for version control
- Deploys: commit, push, sync to the server, cache-bust assets
- Headless-browser checks verify layout changes before they ship
- ImageMagick for the logo and favicon artwork
Who runs it
DomainRiff is built and run by one person in the United Kingdom. Questions or feedback: @vibedcoder on X, or read the privacy policy and terms of use.
